A Sacred Space | A Safe Space

For centuries in the Afrikan community, we have been disconnected from our sacral energy, and thus we have lost true understanding of our sacredness as a people, and by extension, our true divine nature. We have grown to associate sacred with religion, demonise everything and anything spiritual, and we have adopted western misogyny so thoroughly that our men and women are suffering in silence, and drowning in wounds so deep that the thought of our pain alone is enough to drive us into darkness. As for our children... they are scolded for showing even an ounce of curiosity where spirituality is concerned. When they reach adolescence, their hormones are ignored and they are left seeking answers from outsiders regarding the true essence of life. They are taught to feel shame around sacral energy as the creative force within them stirs awake.
This is of course, by design. The sacral chakra is the seat of our creative energy and when fully embodied, honoured and appreciated, greatness is manifested, pain and suffering are released and emotional intelligence peaks. When we demonise this energy and contaminate this space, we manifest insecurity, self-denial and separation. The divine masculine and the divine feminine become dormant and we become lascivious and temporal in nature, disrespecting the temple and detaching the body and mind from The Spirit and soul. We become lost, and waste our energy on frivolous activities, often resulting in broken families and emotional stagnancy.
We have been indoctrinated for so long we ignore our emotions and treat sex and sensuality as a sin. We have the most unhealthy relationship with our sacral energy and it's resulting in dis-ease, emotional neglect and either sexual repression or hypersexuality. We are lacking in balance, understanding, and self awareness, and we are so comfortable in the way things have been we are often reluctant to change and reject any perspective that pushes us to challenge our own thoughts and beliefs.
We often talk about holding safe spaces for the Black woman and being a safe space for the Black man, but how can these spaces truly manifest when our own sacredness is not held safely. It is not nourished or nurtured, it is not understood or given reverence, it is not appreciated or healthily exercised. Yet some how, we are under the impression that we are healing when we are sexually denied, divinely separated and creatively inhibited. Until we move towards reinvention and innovation, and out of conformity and submission, we will never find balance. Until we can hold space for each other and give space for another's pain without playing the blame game, the community will remain dysfunctional. And until we can appreciate all expressions of creative energy and allow free expression in whatever way that may be, we will continue to experience a reality that is not created by us, but is internalised and projected through us.
Sacredness must be separated from religion, creative energy must be understood from every perspective, and divine feminine and divine masculine union must happen for us to manifest a reality filled with healing, emotional respect and true, authentic love. A safe space only exists when our sacredness is given the reverence it deserves and reverence can only be offered when understanding is sought.
Ready to gain understanding and create the safe space necessary for the community to evolve and thrive? Get tickets to our next workshop on the 15th February 2026 where we'll explore the sacral chakra, creative energy and the reproductive centre, moving away from indoctrinated beliefs and into a realm of truth and self acceptance.
